The Site
Buying locally-grown produce makes sense for many reasons: it helps reduce the distance food travels from field to plate; it helps local economies and communities; it encourages the production and consumption of food in season; it is good for us and good for the planet.

By growing and buying local produce we can work together to help reduce our carbon dioxide output, minimise unneccessary non-recyclable packaging, reinforce community networks and give everyone more choice of where to buy.
If you are looking for informative articles, have a recipe you want to share, need help with your own projects, want to do some volunteer work or are simply interested in finding your local producers, then this site is for you.
The Project
I Grow Local was built by Graham Barnes as part of his Major Project for his Interactive Media Production degree at Bournemouth University. The I Grow Local project is specifically designed as a useful online resource for consumers and producers of local produce.
I Grow Local, unlike most local produce websites, has been built as an online community where users can interact and communicate with one another and add to the content of the site. The website is not authored by I Grow Local but rather the user.
